A life-size bronze statue of ACC's very first Life Member, George Giffen, has been unveiled at Adelaide Oval more than a century after he played for Australia.
The all-rounder was born in South Australia in 1859, and was the first Australian to reach a Test double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets. He is also, to this day, the only Australian-based player to have scored 10,000 runs and taken 1,000 wickets in first-class cricket.
Giffen played in 31 Test matches for Australia over 15 years, and toured England five times between 1882 and 1896.
