27th and 28th of February saw us up against the competitions current benchmark in Tea Tree Gully.
The club's senior sides had a rough weekend, with only the 3rd Grade banking some points in a second innings run chase. It was enough to guarantee them finals however, which was some compensation for the 1sts, 2nds and 4ths being soundly beaten. Phil Neate took 4 wickets in the 1sts, whilst Tynan Economou claimed 4 wickets also in the 3rds game. Promising youngster Zach Reekie and "almost veteran" Dan Payne made good 50's in the 2nd Grade, but were our only senior batsmen to hit that mark. 3rd Grade 'keeper Lachy Swain made a match winning 23 n.o. and 35 n.o. in their outright.
In comparison, Adelaide's Junior Buffalos had a magnificent weekend against tough competition, scoring 3 wins from 4 to stay in the finals hunt. Jack Ramage was the batting star in the victorious but unlucky 14 Red side with 96, whilst Earl and Van Kempen were also in the runs. Brad Roberts (16R), Sam Heyworth (14R) and Mineth Heenkeende (14R) claimed 3 wickets each.
In the wash-up, our 16 Red, 16 White and 14 White were into the Finals, whilst a talented 14 Red team finished 5th to just miss the semis. The Senior sides play one more Minor Round game.
