A hot Saturday on December 5 saw Premier Cricket Junior Grades "heated out" until next weekend, so just the 4 senior grades went around on the weekend.
Our opponents were East Torrens and we saw the next 1st Grade debut in our 110 year history, with the consistent and selfless Brad Dingle slotting in at number 7 in the ones, and making it a day to remember.
Adelaide pocketed 3 of the 4 wins, with just the previously undefeated Thirds dropping their game.
Firsts: Made hard work of a 211 run chase at Glandore Oval after 3 wickets apiece to Patterson, Neate and Barnes. Debutant Brad Dingle joined Cam Valente at the crease and the 2 of them steadied, then timed their counter attack perfectly to get the job done with an over to spare. Brad somehow missed the memo about getting the traditional duck on debut, and instead peeled off 59 invaluable runs, whilst Valente led by example with 71 n.o. to follow his tight 10 overs with the new rock.
Seconds: The Twos made a strong start at Campbelltown with the bat and at 0/115 in good time had the chance to almost ice the game there and then. We lacked a bit of ruthlessness, perhaps left it to the next guy a bit, and fell away to be all out before time for 203. Young captain Russ McLean looked well in control for 73, but we had plenty of work to do on a good deck. Some good team bowling and excellent support from the field had us across the line with East Torrens all out 159
Thirds: Lost their first game of the year with wickets spread as East Torrens made 182. Sam Powell grabbed 3 poles to continue his great start to the season. We fell short in the chase, with Cam Bullard top scoring after getting a start but not being able to capitalise.
Fourths: A short one. East's batted first at Windsor Gardens and were castled for 95 with former U16 captain Chris Quinsey grabbing 4 wickets in just his second senior game. Adelaide got past them, but with the loss of 6 wickets, so plenty to work on there. Always nice to win these ones without losing a wicket.
