Adelaide's Ray Sutton Shield Team are the club's newest Premiers, completing their very successful season by comfortably winning the RSS Grand Final on Sunday 19th November at Park 23. Brilliant news !
After winning the toss and sending Northern Districts in, our bowlers had the Jets in early trouble at 7/36. A late recovery saw Northerns get to 9/82 after their 40 overs. Best with the ball were Tom Mangelsen (4/10) and Fraser Bone (2/11). Tom finished as the equal leading wicket taker for the competition with 10 wickets at an average of 4.6 runs per wicket.
The boys then made comfortable work of the chase, reaching 4/86 with 8 overs to spare. Skipper Will Patton led the way with an unbeaten 44.
Well done to all 13 boys who played in the competition. Special mention also to Supercoach Damian Patton, Team Manager Justin Koukourou, Junior Coordinator Jason Herriott, and all involved.
This was the club's first Ray Sutton Shield win since 2009/10. Interestingly, that team included current senior players in Nick Patterson, Tom Mather, Michael Cormack, Jimmy Takos, Sam Powell and Rob Roe, as well as AFL listed players in Caleb Daniel (Western Bulldogs) and Luke Lavender (Essendon). Quite a list
Hopefully the boys can push on and continue this winning form in the U14 Red and U14 White grades for the remainder of the season.
Congratulations and Go the Buffs!
